Invasive Tree?

One for the legally knowledgeable (and everyone else).

Had a fellow approach me wanting to know what to do with a tree. His next door neighbour has a reasonable (25ft tall) conifer very near the boundary, maybe 2 feet. The tree blocks out light and drops needles (Obviously). The roots are now going underneath the client's garage. He is worried about his foundations, and wishes the tree to be removed, before it damages his property. The neighbour does not want the tree down, I do not think they get on very well.

Is there anyway of making someone have a tree taken down, other than saying it is dangerous to people (which it is not)? :001_huh:

Cheers,

Sam

ive a customer who had a row of conifer at the bottom of there garden over hanging and causing a mess

the local tree officer served a notice to either get a local contractor to reduce or if not the council would send one of there approved contractor s round and tree owner would have to foot the bill

There is legislation for hedges, but not individual trees.

what if the indivdual tree is causing damage,is there anything that can be done :001_huh:

As mentioned before it would be an insurance case, I'm currently dealing with one, a big willow 2ft from a garage with a lean going away from the garage. The garage foundations were there before the tree and it shows no signs of heave but the area 6" from the garage has been lifted up 3"!
