Probably not much help but when I took in fishing gear to nz there customs just disinfected it.... Imagine that's all they would do with your saws.

after just coming back from living out there for 3 and a half years you may aswell sell them here and buy new ones out there as much cheaper.......i got into using shindawa in N.Z there real reliable and half the price of stihl.........people think there cheap chinese imports but there actually japanese forestry saws!!!! great work horse's. where abouts you moving to?

Dont know if this helps, but i beleive you can buy yourself new saws in this contry and get the stihl daeler to send them direct to NZ.... and i think you can save on the VAT. Give FR Jones a shout on monday they should know for sure.

A couple of options; the first is to talk to a shipping company and try and get some space in a container. If someone hasn't filled up an entire container you should be able to buy some of the remaining space. Take the saws apart and clean and disinfect them. This will make life easier at this end.

 

The other option is to just sell them and buy more over here. There are a few people that get on the work and income sponsored forestry courses but drop out when they realise it's much harder work than sitting on your backside getting the benefit. Work and income pay for the saws but what usually happens is that the trainee flunks out after a month and the saws go back to the dealer to be on sold. I bought a month old 046, seen probably a couple of hours work at best, for $1200. The 066 or the new equivalent are the same. The only ones you won't pick up cheap are the smaller saws.

you would probably be best selling your saws and buying new over there IMO, by the time you pay for the shipping etc you would probably be spending the same amount of cash anyway and at least you would have new shiny saws to play with:thumbup:

They are the biggest Chainsaw dealer that will be close to you.Ask them the Cost of buying the saws you have new in NZ.

a shipping company will get your saws over easy-you just cant fly them out here. and make sure they are VERY clean. It isnt very expensive, just takes about 6 weeks.

Weight wise + insurance its going to be near £450 to £550 and to be fair im not sure that i will need the same size saws so i think i will just buy fresh when i get there and also since ive mentioned it to one of my chums about two hours ago my phone hasnt stopped ringing and ive only got the 06 440 and some breakers left to sell.
