Fake Stihl MS440 on ebay

Spotted this on ebay,

Don't know how to do the clicky link. Saw something on the tele a week or so ago about these bad knock off saws being shipped over from china. If you look as the side cover and top cover they don't even look nearly right. Would like to think no one on here would buy it.

 

They said on the tele they were trying to stop them all at customs but theyre still getting through. Just feel sorry for the poor buggers buying them as genuine saws.

Click on bids. Looks like someone(not me), made up an account and won the item just so they could not pay for it(knowing all along it was fake).

 

Report the listing.

Without any way of knowing much about anything for sale on ebay IMO never buy any Kit from ebay. There are far to many "what if's" and the only certain thing is you will get what you payed for on ebay and chances are you will not be happy. Only buy from someone or some company that you know! Stop the cycle of buying and selling "what if" items!

The seller is having a laugh - that is a £60 Zomax and what are the bidders on, haven't they seen a MS440:confused1:

In all seriousness, if you see owt like this, you should at least report it to Ebay.

 

Whilst it may look like an obvious fake to those in the know, there be some poor sap out there prepared to fork out their hard earned for a quality product not realising they are acquiring a "bag o'shite".

 

It could be that the seller got burnt when he bought it and is trying to get rid and recoup his losses once he realised he'd been stung. Nevertheless, if its not a Stihl, then you can't say it is.

I sort of agree, I trade on ebay and offer out good working kit but purchase off ebay knowing that the items may fall well short of what I would call "serviceable".

I recently had one the other way where I bought a saw that was listed spares or repair, won it at a price I could warrant rebuilding or just to use as spares. Opened the box, poured some fresh fuel in, checked for a spark and it runs mint - bargain.

Similar sort of results here, the last two work trucks have been bought on ebay along with my firewood processor and tractor loader, the first truck sold for more than i paid for it and the tractor sold for £25 less than i paid for it after having 18 months use out of it, can't really knock it.

The advert has been pulled off ebay - good stuff.

 

What is depressing is that it looks nothing like a real MS440, but they are relying on the ignorance of the inexperienced/uneducated.
