My mate has just done 30/31 and he was told that you are not supposed to use a helmet with a chinstrap on the ground, dunno if that's right or not but this was from nptc assesor.

i was told u can use climbing helmets on the ground, he had a petzl vertex vent like me,

Just undo the chinstrap on the ground. If its undone it is no longer serving as a chinstrap, if its a real issue, tuck it up inside the webbing out of the way.

Thats what i do.

I'm not sure if there is a real answer. I've been told your not supose to wear a Vertex on the ground by a NPTC assessor. Although i've had many assessments where they've worn them.
