The new ms201T CHAIN, what do you think?

Just wondering what others think of the new chain by Stihl designed for the 201T.

For those who don't know its a full chisel chain but with the top handle low profile.

I bought some for the 020 an was fairly impressed at first.

It is an agressive chain and cuts really well.:thumbup1:

But, after a couple of sharpens I just couldn't get it to cut, and I mean cut, it was like using a blunt chain!

Now, I'm going to suggest my sharpening skills must be to blame.

Have no prob sharpening the oregon super rapid 75LPX chains I use on the bigger saws so really baffled on this one!:confused1:

Even after knocking the depth gauge and the safety ramp down and getting some nice hook in there with a sharp point it just didnt want to bite into the wood.

Anyone else having this prob with the chain or is it just me.:001_rolleyes:

Gone back to the 91 VXL as it is a good chain anyway.

The only thing I could think of, well apart from my poor sharpening skills is that the top plate angle is too steep.

So then impressed or not?

Just you mate, I am loving it.

Funnily enough I also aired my views to Stihl by email.

I got a call today from the R&D department asking if I could send the chain over (they will pay P&P) as they have had some problems with the steel on a few batches and want to inspect it.

Looks like its not my crappy sharpening skills after all.:thumbup1::blushing:

That's not very reassuring.... I wonder how many others out there may be struggling but wouldn't know that it was 'dodgy steel'. :sneaky2:
