Ways of dealing with neighbours...

Anybody got any good suggestions...

My two year old was in bed by 7.00 last night. Neighbours stone saw started up (Sunday night!) cutting bloody flags for some crap looking patio they are making. I asked politely how long they would be doing this as he's just gone to bed etc.. Next door replied (a bit taken back that I had asked them this) about half hour. 50 mins later they stopped!. By this time my blood was boiling and at risk of being arrested for weilding a 3120 I went to bed.

Any suggestions welcomed!

are those serious replys lads?? not what i would have expected but hey you are entitled to your opinions. im with paddy on this, if i had a 2 year old in bed and my neighbour did that i would be having words, its very inconsiderate, i would have had a word and then called the cops and let them have a word, you cant tell me that they couldnt do the cutting at a more sensible hour.

Usually here in the states in a residential neighborhood loud noise or equipment work ends around 9:00 PM. You acted properly by asking the neighbor how much longer they would be working and even though they did stop later than they said they would the point is they did stop. If it had been any later I would have had another visit by the time One hour had passed, "unarmed" and ask again when they thought they would be done. If they told you to do something that you would not normally do to your self I would have than contacted the police. There is only so much you can do untill the police become involved, researching any noise ordinance in advance of calling the police just so you are prepared for a visit would also help defuse the situation a great deal. Good Hunting.

And what about all the nights that the neighbour has no doubt been kept awake by an upset and screaming two year old?

You can either get pointlessly wound up about these things or just relax about it a bit more and have much less stress in you life.
