HI all, After a bit of advice, am possibly looking to get a stumpgrinder however, does any one have any experiance of one mounted on a mini digger (Takeuchi tb0 1.6 ton). Exac1 do one for £4500, looks to be quite good quality and I like the idea of it being on the end of a digger arm for good acess etc.

Question is, Would a mini digger have enough guts (hydraulic flow) to run it and has anyone ever used one. or is it best to stick to a dedicated stumpgrinder (more expensive though)? I wouldn't be using it a huge amount but still want it to be capable enough for your average tree stump.

Any insight gratefully received!! Matt

you will be lucky to get a mini digger with enough flow to operate a stump grinder as soon as you slew or put dipper in our out it takes the flow away from the aux service i would be tempted to go for one with its own engine

I have watched them at the APF on small mini diggers and most guys just laugh and walk on.

£4500 will get you a Carlton pedestrian grinder, they are excellent.

If you can get a mini digger to the stump, dig it out if it's not too big, great for hedges and shrubs.

Yup

Hammer (auxiliary) circuits are generally used with the rest of the machine stationary, slewing kills the flow to the hammer. You can get machines with a dedicated pump for the hammer circuit but they are uncommon.

The donkey engine machines are OK but they make small machines a lot top heavy and easy to tip over.
