It makes my blood boil when people blame the police for not being everywhere, all the time and with nothing else to do. Crime rates have rocketed in the last 20 years but police numbers have not increased, in fact they have reduced. More legislation needs to be enforced which the police have to investigate, and more often than not create specialist units which take front line officers off the streets (online crime,child sex, domestic violence,people trafficking to name just a few). There are simply not enough officers to cover the work load and the rank and file find this as infuriating as the public. So please cut them some slack, they want to catch the bad guys but have to work within the restraints of logistics and, unfortunately, the law.

 

My bill for policing goes up every year well beyond inflation whilst our service has been decimated and the crime rate soars as we have become such an easy touch. Trying to get a crime number is like pulling teeth as they just don't want it on the stats.

 

I am sure no one is really blaming individual officers but, around here at least, there is very good reason and justification for criticism; the rural community is paying handsomely for services to be maintained in urban areas only. Not good enough.

 

I certainly don't feel obliged to cut them any slack when they agree that crimes have been committed but refuse to log them. How does this help either party?

As someone who recently got done over for a small amount of gear i'm quite interested in this thread.  Anyone got any additions?  Particularly interested in hearing about security measures that have failed.

One thing worked for a mate of mine on here.
Spring loaded side bolts on strings going into door sideways inside the wall.
Kiddys had to smash the roof to get in, then they tried smashing the door from inside.
That's what woke me up.
Caught the scrote, all 7 stone teenager.
£200 fine for non Dom burglary.
Next one I catch won't be waiting for the police to turn up.

left a chipper on site last year, was tucked round the back of garden and property was off the main road not the best thing to do I know but.

We took a wheel off and took spare any took a few minutes.
