Must be nice - personally I prefer to tell them the right way and if they still want it their way I take the cash because priciples don't pay the bills.

whats the point in spending time. Explaining to the customer the right way?....... and then saying ok you don't want that so i'll do it the wrong way instead:confused1:

you'd just as well not bother and do it their way in the first place IMO:001_smile:

I have never done it and never will.

I am stacked out with work to the point I am doing 72 hour weeks.

1. Because we clean up till it's spotless

2. Because we respect the clients property including their gardens and flower beds

3. because I refuse to bodge in tree work, we never ever give in to what the client wants if they are wrong

4. if they are wrong and won't budge, we let someone else bodge, we have plenty of other jobs to do.

There are plenty of reasons for not butchering trees, if you think one of them is your bills won't get paid if you don't, then you should get out of tree work

:beerchug: Finally some sense!

This is what i mean, If you refuse to do the bad jobs then you earn the respect you deserve. When you have the respect then you get the calls and the money comes in regardless. If you just do what your told by people who dont know what they are talking about then you dont earn the respect and stay at the bottom struggling.

Good man Dean keep it up

I forgot to say we don't butcher trees either... I'd rather walk away than look back at something that looks crap. That's call good business to me.

If refusing to butcher trees means you get behind with the mortgage then you are doing something wrong or you are not getting recommended.

If this is the case then you need to look at how you work

Most of my work is repeat or recommended

It really isn't rocket science, do the job right, be polite, clean up spotlessly and dont trample their flowerbeds and work will increasingly come your way

Im that good at my job I could go round topping trees that I havent even been asked to work on never mind get paid for and I would still have loads of work.

I still cannot fathom though why people think a bit of topping is the devils work and a disgrace but will then quite happily fell a nice and healthy tree!

Logically its makes no sense what so ever to me.

Fair enough if people dont like the way it looks, nothing wrong with that opinion.

There's no hope :001_rolleyes:

Well. All of "my" climbing work is done by subcontractors, because thats not what I as a person do, but when my company does it I want the most professional work I can get. However. If a client asks "Can you take that branch off?" I/we will put a point across, from the health and appearance of the tree perspective, and try and come to some conclusion where everyone is happy. But I wont say "I'm not doing it because it's lob sided etc.". But neither would I let the above happen. Fortunately I don't do much domestic work, so I get by without thinking about this very much :001_smile:
