thanks for the replies, i think based on the majority i will prob stick with the tipper i do mostly domestic, roadside jobs. just occassionally need it for offroad or bad weather, but i guess theres not any one van or truck that covers all the angles-fuel economy, payload, license and taco issues, off roading. ideally you would have to have both to get the best of both worlds!

The land rover did everything the transit will do plus it was good in the snow and off road, had a winch and would pull a lot more. It also looked better. Yes, it carried a bit less and was a bit more cramped but it still did all that is needed. If I had a regular amount of off road work then I would never have sold the land rover but like I said I wanted to free some capital.

no havent tried any other tyres on the back of it. would it make that big of a difference??

 

We have a set of Khumo's on the back of our crew cab Transit and it will get most places even when driven by a muppet.

 

Not sure what they are called/size as I am 200 odd miles away from it at the minute but will find out when back.

 

Transit for domestic stuff/roadside and Landys if its proper mud.:001_smile:

Im currently using a ford transit 3.5t as a chip truck, its great in the dry but useless offroad or in snowy conditions. just wondered if anyone that has used both would be able to give advice if a Landy 130 tipper would be better? how do the payloads compare? i know the landy would be a lot more expensive but would save me having another 4x4 to pull the chipper around in bad weather. any help much appreciated!

I have snow and mud tyres on my Suzuki carryall, they made it useable all winter in light mud/on fields and in the snow with no weight in the back. I will certainly be buying some to fit my LT35 before winter! Made a massive difference.

Can you post what they are when you find out mate? I tried to get some BF Goodrich AT's for my Transit this winter and they don't do them in the right size.

i have seen a set of kuhmo kl71's (same as whats on my shogun) fitted on twin rear wheel transits the same as yours locally mate.

I find a tipper trailer works for those one off muddy jobs which I put behind my ranger then move the chipper about with the quad, if Chips going local i can out the chipper and quad on the back of the trailer and it's an ultimate combo
