I'm just at the stage of buying all my gear. So am just wondering if it's best to buy a new saw or use the money and get a bigger more powerful saw second hand? Any help is grateful.:confused1::confused1:

Get a new mid range saw 50cc ish and it will be able to cope with most things you'll ask it to do.

Older saws have worn AV mounts pistons can be scored or worn so best to aviod unles you know its history.

Cheers guys thought that might be the case. Any recomendatios on a saw? I've used the stihls in the past but it was just a 14 inch ms180 I think so not to sure what is the best to go for. Guess it might be just down to personal choice

By buying new,you will generally have the peace of mind of its reliability. If you are relying on one saw to do your work then the last thing you want is one that lets you down just when you want to be getting on.

Buy new. It's difficult to recommend a particular saw as such as we all have likes or dislikes and it depends on what your cutting.

An MS361 (or may be the MS362) is a good all rounder as it can take up to a 20" bar.

You tens to get what you pay for in a saw....
