Anyone else suffer with a dislocating shoulder ??

Recommended Posts

shrug form could be off slightly perhaps as it's alot of downward pull on shoulder structure. But defo throw in some rotator cuff work,I made mistake of neglecting those small inner shoulder muscles and suffered rupture in right shoulder 2 year back.

Thumbs up on deadlift and bench numbers tho.

Another tip if doing alot of overhead pressing make sure to have at least 48 hours between any bench work and shoulder work, that is if your not already should help keeps shoulders healthier in long run

I sufferd from a recurring dislocating shoulder about 10 years ago.....It would come out about 4-5 times a week, I would sneeze, put ladders on hi-lux roof rack, put my arm over my wife in bed etc and it would just pop out, not to sore when out, but my god it hurt like hell when it popped back in! This went on for about 7 month's before I got a op on it, had to keep it in sling in the same position for 3 month then some light physio and built it up slowly and 6 month later I was up the trees again ( Thankfully I worked for the council at the time and they gave me good pay while off) and not had a prob with it since....touch wood :-).

Good luck with it mate, go see a physio now if I was you.

thanks for all the advice guys , im glad im not the only one that has suffered this type of thing .

as for the overhead press i have been pushing then as much as i cun normally 5x6 @75-80 kg , im guessing that all the smaller muscles that stabalise the rotator cuff have not developed as quickly and further left the soulder imballenced . im hpeing to get back on some cardio this week and slowly get back to lifting some weight in a couple weeks but for now i will be trying to keep woking

After an branch hit me I found that my arm made a rasping noise and wouldnt work. I thought I had broken my coller bone but no after xrays looked like the shoulder bone had been dislocated. Now got a big lump on on shoulder.

Went back to work too soon and made it worse.

I suffered for many years with this problem, carried on climbing but had to be very aware. My addvice would be to get the operation asap as for me it was life changing in respect of my working life.I was driving with in a fortnight and back to light work after a month or so and climbing again three months.I just cant believe I waited so long to have it done.

FWIW I'd echo the comments above and see a good sports physio. It is not cheap, but worth the money. I had a back op a couple of years ago which caused my shoulders to atrophy during recovery. When I started active life again and climbing (rock) I caused a big imbalance in the muscles which caused no end of problems. Guess I was a month or so away from rotator cuff damage and torn ligaments. Luckily if I strengthen some things and stretch other things I should avoid the knife (again).

Good quality physio really is a stitch in time.
