Where applicable please could you list your chosen application for the knot in question, size cord you prefer, length of cord(or loop in some cases), pros and cons, etc etc...anything you can think of really. Thanks

I only use prussik's if I'm using both ends of my rope - advantage is it works both ways up - unlike a blakes hitch (upside down = suislide knot!) or as a back up for lowering with capstans etc in aerial rescue (6 wrap)

The most basic and generally the beginners friction hitch.

99% of climbers start using this

100% would be able to tie a prusik

The simpliest most versatile knot in the Arb industry

Foolproff

Easy to tie

Easy to identify as tied correctly

Bomb Proof

Although I thought it was spelt prussic:confused1:

Mainly use it when balancing limbs so get the tension on both sides (of spiderleg) equal. 85cm i&i 8mm.

Show it to my groundies as a friction knot to start climbing.

Also use it as friction hitch for setting 2:1 or 4:1 systems.
