i use it all the time at least i dont have to use those tight eyes on yale climbing lines

has been known to be tied wrong

some use the yosemity tie off but thats even worse if not tied correctly

DOES need a stopper knot

I find it easy to undo and use it when either using the other end of a rope or on a rope with no splice

I think that is the first time I have ever heard that about the bowline. I was taught that knot before all others as THE most basic knot out out there and THE easiest to untie. I would love to learn a simpler knot that is easier to untie. What is the anglers loop?

use them all them ,think it was the 1,st knott mi late dad showed me,

 

use them for all sorts ,lorry get a rope we an eye in

 

My rope has an eye in mate but I use other end and tie a bowline on. Can't explain why but I prefer it to an eye:confused1:

I use a spliced eye primarily but use a bowline on the other end of my climbing line, and of course when rock climbing

I use it:

To tie into.

Choking timber when roping off.

Running bowline to put a rope up a tree to pull a tree over.

Termination knot in one end of the climbing line- ise a |VT once in the tree and a bowline and prussik to access the tree.

Running bowline used aplenty in rigging apps.

I almost always use it for endline knot except on my biners direct to harness.

Tied to pulley for secret weapon.

For rigging and running up the tree for rope walking or pull downs.

I usually add the Yosemite tie off. And on big loads, say off the truck to snap out a stump use the Mountaineering bowline

Attachment knot. Or Running bowline for choking stem or timber for logging.

 

Pros, Can release after significant load.

Easy to tie

 

Cons, Needs a stopper knot.

 

doesn't need a stopper knot if you use a yosemite tie off....
