I have a 110 hi cap on an x plate. She seems to turn over fine but has problems firing up, batteries are good as are the glow plugs...she always goes eventually and when she's does she runs fine but I am fed up with the prolonged turning of the starter motor. Any help would be much appreciated.

u havnt a small diesel leak? just takes a minute hole in pipe, sounds like diesel running back into tank. if u have a hand primer on diesel filter, pump it up before u start it in the morning. had the same problem with my l200 starting fine now.

mine has ben acting up like that for awhile, i changed the air mass meter and its flying again, also if you have it tuned with a tunit box or chip this can cause the air mass meter brake, it certainly cured mine. i bought a genuine land rover air mass meter, £97 quid inc the dreaded VAT, thery are better than cheapo ones on fleabay apparently mate.

my scania lorry does exactly the same. i'm told the fuel is running back into the tank. when the tank is over half full it starts no problem. less than half and it turns over for ages. non return valve is needed i'm told

A non return valve is a cheap short term fix for that. The diesel system is highly pressurised, and you have an inherent problem if the pressure is not being kept overnight.
