Mozzies don't like it if you eat heaps of bananas but they do like the colour blue. Unfortunately, if you attract them you're pretty much stuffed. DEET works great but like others have said; be careful, it's nasty stuff. I'm fortunate, mozzies hate me but the wife swells up like a barrage balloon and they love her for some reason.

I met a guy say 20 yrs ago who goes up Scotland every summer:confused1: and claimed that by putting Dettol in his morning wash water it acted as a Midge repelant:001_huh: anybody tried it?

 

Once when treking in Scotland my wife washed her hair, off she went with loadsa 'Cleggs' after her - all I had to do was stay a few steps behind her and I had no problems at all - tried and tested method:thumbup:

Midges love me , which Avon skin so soft product is the one people use. just looked on the avon site and got well confused

i use jungle formual 'tropical strength'. i was first put onto it by a forestry mate and it seems to do the trick

i use jungle formula, but i dont attract them, people around me get attacked but i rarely get bitten. I do when its heaving with the blighters, but theres nowhere around here thats that bad!

 

Is it not worth dosing up on anti-histamines to stop your body reacting to the bites? if you dont let your body react then you wont notice them as much.

Interesting about blood group. They swarm to me and love a drop of the red stuff, often leaving me in serious pain. I think I'm A positive. If I'm in the woods in the summer, especially if it's humid I have to wrap up well with gloves etc. or they are all over me.

I am from west coast of scotland in the heart of midge country and i found getting completely pissed on a bottle of whisky by the camp fire works well

or you could just use a midge net over your head and keep the rest covered

just get the mrs to order it for you, thats what i do and she always seems to get the right 1. but really provided its skin so soft it doesnt matter which 1 you get,
