I'm not a fan of 0800 numbers to be honest. Many of the less scrupulous tree firms and the like round me have 0800 numbers. This is so they don't have to have any home contact number either because they travel a lot or don't wish you to know where they live. I'm not saying everyone is like this who has 0800 numbers. I could see the appeal but not for me.

Would you be better off with one of those "local" numbers, there is a way of having a local area code in a different code area than where you are. I've not yet decided wether or not I like this practice (as you effectively con people into thinking you're just around the corner) but it's likely to be much more effective.

For the first 10 years of my business I had only one phone number and shared my fax machine with the same number as well. For the last 8 years I have had a 866 number "toll free" and I also kept my local number as well. 3 years ago I also got a second line just for the faxes. If I had to do it again I would have had all in place from the beginning to the present. Mind you my coverage area is kinda of large but the increase in business has more than made up for the start up cost which was very low. Remember your investing in your companies communication needs and future business expansion. Good Hunting.

0300 numbers are the way forward as more people will have a mobile than a land line and most mobile packages dont allow free calls to 0800 numbers but will to 0300 numbers within your inclusive package

I was wondrin bout that

I don't phone 0800 numbers for that reason
