I don't think I've ever seen so many, I see dozens daily! Has anyone else seen an increase?

Beautiful creatures, but never seen any around here. Did they come over to check you out, their wings make a fantastic noise.

I had two in my greenhouse, there are groves in the shed that must be them harvesting pulp for nest? What a noise! puts shiver down my spine!!

Nooooo:001_rolleyes: Ive seen them flying around picking up rotten wood off the deadwood heaps left on the sides of the trailways.

normally plenty of horntails (woodwasps) up here but not seen any so far this year.

 

often come across their grubs when splitting softwood.

Ive had more than my fair share of wasp attacks which are painful enough.
