I dont think ive ever seen one, well not outside a zoo anyway.

 

your missing out my man! nothing will put the fear of god into you like stumbling on a hornets nest, especially when beating on a hollow buttress root like a drum while checking out a hispidus bracket!

anyone have any pics?

 

normally plenty of horntails (woodwasps) up here but not seen any so far this year.

 

often come across their grubs when splitting softwood.

Ive had more than my fair share of wasp attacks which are painful enough.:thumbdown:
