Ian's a very good chap who really knows his onions. I thought his comments were on the whole very good - the comments about his mishaps and the Poplar would probably have been better left unsaid as they appeared to undo the good comments.

Why should he have left his mishaps unsaid?.....he's being honest. Nowt wrong with that.:001_smile:

That's true. I guess it just seemed a bit funny talking about how non-arbs wielding chainsaws skew the statistics about H&S in our industry, but then saying that as a seasoned professional he had had multiple incidents.

You're right - no point in hiding the truth. Is arb inherently dangerous though? Are you really 'lucky' if you have a career without an incident?

Damn, I am on a track I didn't mean to be on now. As I previously said, I thought Ian's comments were very succinct and informative.

he made a bit of a hash of it, it ended up contradicting himself, saying that untrained guys dont do a pucka job, and then admitting he himself has been in hospital a few times, even involved in a dual carriageway side disaster!

so wh\t the listening is now wondering is, so wether we pay a cheap noddy or an expensive pro, they all have **** hitting the proverbial fan.

I think you are lucky to go through your career without an incident......purely because however competent, careful, experienced you are, you can be 'unlucky' and through no fault of your own have a mishap..... a slip, a snapout.....just sheer bad luck......and it happens.
