This Sycamore had half of its crown removed many years ago, not by me :001_smile:

Its in my garden and I am going to top it in the next few weeks.

What problem do people think the tree has developed that has made topping necessary???

Its casting a shadow over your newly positioned swimming pool?

From the way that you posed the question, i am guessing that there is a major fault with the tree, hence your course of action, i.e. crown reduction.

If there is a fault, then i am guessing that it is where the main stem is kinked and the tree is growing new branches (about half way up).

The new branches (sort of mini crown) has been there for many years.

the tree was not topped, it had twoi heavy limbs off at the lower crown.

The tree had the right side of the crown removed long, long ago. It had been heavily crown lifted more recently.

Come on Tony I expected you to get this one.
