Dont really take much notice of all the others, you had me at the first two, I have never seen the helical lay of fibres showing within the internal cavity like that before, thats a beautiful pair of images, I mean like a right up my street, my cup-O-tea, give me wood kinda way!

Its lost its top a few times and is hollow. Never been pruned either so a completely unmanaged tree next to the main town bridge. There was a bigger one on the other side but it fell into the river during a flood.

Matt, are the two big London planes the ones which have just been confirmed as Britain's tallest broadleaved tree?

If so where abouts are they on the estate?

Many thanks,

Nick

I think they have been considered the biggest / tallest hardwoods for some time now , they are very impressive indeed , they are located near the church near the school , heading in the direction of the town but not really access for public but I am sure you will be OK if discreet ...
