Someone's in for a spot of bother!

I reduced this Beech back away from the garage about two weeks ago. It's a council owned tree growing towards a privately owned garage next to a house.

I was walking past it today and noticed it looked a bit different!

It was immediately apparent that someone had done a cowboy backcut as you can see in the first photo. Then i saw the damage to the garage (which was more extensive than can be seen in the pics) - i couldn't believe it!

I then saw a bloke next to the garage who turned out to be a prospective tenant, wanting to rent the house and garage in question. The estate agent then turned up who informed me that the landlord told her the tree had come down by itself and he will be going through the insurance company!!!

THEN the next door neighbour told me that she saw the landlord and two friends cutting the tree down, told them to stop but they ignored her!!

I don't think the insurance company will appreciate being lied to and i don't think the council will appreciate him felling one of their (possibly tpo'd) trees!

If you done the reduction a couple of weeks back then surely you would know if it has a TPO?

Pretty stupid of the landlord and I hope you grass them in!

we get given a list of trees by the boss so not sure on tpo situations

i phoned the boss straight away

I hope that the council are alerted to this........
