Whats the running costs like? fuel, insurance etc. Do they need constant maintenance? roughly how many cube of chip can u get in the box?

 

 

Insurance is no more than a seven 1/2. Fuel is a factor especially since a pto chipper will have to run on white diesel with the mog (no red diesel in a mog for arb). To be honest ours is quiet thirsty but again so is a lorry. We landed on our feet with ours and have only spent on routine maintenance. We just bought a set of 4 tyres (speed rated continentals for £1670)

Parts are expensive, but isn't everything these days. We spent more keeping an LDV tipper on the road last last year before it finally died.

If you do some homework you will find lots of service items like brake pads , filters etc are the same as other Merc vehicles but dont carry the Mog price tag.

& who runs their mog on an Operators Licence?

You do find the people that have mogs...and keep them tend to deal with a.c price . Mogs tend to be high maintenance because they do a lot more work than an hgv chip truck .

We have an O licence and run ours on white....,,. We had our tank dipped a couple of months ago by customs. Came out of nowhere while we were chipping.
