Who is getting into next winters firewood ?

I have found the ibc tanks ideal if you remove the plastic tank. Put a sheet over the top logs seem to dry better this way than any other.

Its 800mm stock fencing. I have had a play with different designs:

 

Without any posts/framework the fencing tends to bow/bulge when its full but is still stackable.

With some posts it is better but the best i have found is to staple some 2"x1" as a framework to the fencing then tension it when you staple it to the pallet. Holds its shape well and stacks easier. Takes about 15mins to make each one.

 

The dimensions are 1mx1.2mx0.8m= 0.96㎥ - very nearly a cube!

allready cut 80% of this winters and the best tool is the 3 in 1 buckert on the digger. no mater what the shape you can set it at a pecfact hight

some mature Willows (aargh) have been felled for the environment agency and were placed on an old railway embankment overlooking my small covered storage section in a builders yard so the convenient logging has been keeping me busy cutting rings and manual splitting.

Timeframe for seasoned willow anyone?

or fit for burning next winter if stacked now?

I am giving these 1.5 cu bags a go this year. Will be interested to see if we have any mould problems and how many seasons they last. About £5 ea with vat

If you split it now should be ok. It goes very light when dried out.
