Well mine are covered in smelly muddy poo smelling stuff after busting my butt in the rain today.

I need to de smell them and clean them this weekend.

Anyone got advise on rope friendly cleaning?

Best idea I can come up with is jet wash the stuff and leave it in the sun. Harness needs some attention too. What do you folks use plz.

Some people advise to put them in a pillow slip and wash them in the machine with cool water and non bio powder but never been a fan of that.

I use a rope cleaner which attatches to a threaded type tap. it is a t - shape tube with very small holes in the pipe that force high pressure water in to the rope as you pass it through.

Dead simple, cheap and really good!

oh by the way I also clean my harness and helmet in the dish washer ! also no soaps chemicals nothing at roughly about the the same time 40 mins only problem till now is after use of the dishwasher it might smell so to overcome this I let the dishwasher run once through with a tab in it I hope this info helps you out !!

i wash mine in the bath (which the missus loves) with a mild soap does the trick but requires a lot of elbow grease.

Plus i am not completely 100% sure but i thought you were supposed to let the ropes dry out naturally and out of direct sunlight. Or is that another thread? so i wait for the rope techno boys to put me straight on that!:confused1:

Hiya Pete. I'm not knocking this mate, I'm genuinely interested. But isn't the heat of the dishwasher liable to weaken the helmet eventually? Couldn't you just wipe it down instead of dish washing it?

I think I will go for the pillow case in the machine. Sounds the simpleist. Just have to wait for the boss to go out on sat. morning and away we go. I like the sound of the Tee piece that runs the rop through too. I'll keep my eyes open for one of those.
