Wood identification needed please!!!!!

Hi all I have been doing a clearance job of the wood in the pictures ,can anyone help with identifying what wood it is and if it would be any good for logs...i believe it is a soft wood but its still very wet so hard to know for sure.Any feedback would be gratefully received

Not pine, its poplar. The split log looks just like pop.

 

 

 

 

edit.......Durr! Why didn't I think of this before... pine and pop both have very distinctive smells... give it a sniff......

 

 

I can smell its pop from here.
