Wood identification needed please!!!!!

Hi all I have been doing a clearance job of the wood in the pictures ,can anyone help with identifying what wood it is and if it would be any good for logs...i believe it is a soft wood but its still very wet so hard to know for sure.Any feedback would be gratefully received

bark seems thick enough to be a Pinus sp. especially with the deep fissuring which is characteristic of pines.

 

Pine wood, mainly scots pine, is good for kindling and will light off a match if dry enough. Makes good logs too, only if very very dry though.

Wet with deeply fissured bark, smells like Poplar to me

I don't think it's poplar but, I do think it looks very much like pine, very similar to the couple of tonnes down my yard.

Not pine, its poplar. The split log looks just like pop.

 

 

 

 

edit.......Durr! Why didn't I think of this before... pine and pop both have very distinctive smells... give it a sniff......

 

 

I can smell its pop from here.

Could be pine, Spruce, Hemlock, you need to get a few more pics, Ill still be clueless but others on here will know
