engines are de tuned fromthe factory to compensate for the average persons lack of maitnenance and mecahnical sympathy a little light tuning is not a problem if you change the oil and filters at the right intervals andgenerally look after the vehicle. Also it allowed the manufacturer to sell more powerful models which ar eonly seperated bya map such as the sprinter 308,311 and 313 CDI models, same motor different map, the 318 is a bigger V6 Engine.

It just sounds too good to be true but think I'm gonna give it a go at some point wired4smoke has done a few motors and loves it:)

Have done around 5 motors now and no problems. That said my mate blow his turbo on a 07 golf 140 brake but he had only bought it, he was warned about previous servicing being a concern.

If you have owned the vehicle for some and know it's problems then it no worry.

Oil is everything when tuning diesels. Good quality every change and changed a few thousand less than manufactures recommended

  • 1 year later...

So i thought id give another update as i just compared my fuel costs over the past two years. So with the re-map i filled up 13 tank fulls less at the cost of £69 a pop so that saved me £897 over that year, i tried to average out the tank cost due to fluctuating fuel prices so its no where near exact more like a calculated estimate (currently its closer to £80). so i guess if your thinking of spending the money its technically paid for itself in 6 months.
