Getting the Transit re-mapped

Very interested in this Ian.

Been thinking of having my '06 (old shape) 115 remapped simply to improve fuel economy.

It carries chip and pulls my small TW easy enough, but I only average about 27mpg, and drive like a grandad.

Looking forward to hearing your findings.

Hi Ian,

I though about doing this to mine when I first got her, but never got round to it.

How do you find the gear ratio's with the extra grunt?Because I find mine's screaming

now at 55/60mph and would only benefit me if I change the gear box ratio so I can just cruiz at 55 instead.

It'll be interesting to see how you get on!

Cheers Steve

I had my shogun done and it is nite and day to a standard one now. Just one thing to watch out for anyone that gets there wheels serviced at there dealer. Make sure they never plug it in to there laptops and update ECU fireware as this will wipe your remap.

My mates rodeo got wiped at it's 3rd service and there's not much you can do about it. Luckily he got it remapped again for free when he explained.

I wouldn't be spending anymore £300 on a remap as £250 is norm over her in northern ireland. I have my car done as well and torque tronix puts her on the rolling road aswell for that with a printout.

Am not sure wither he would accept an ECU in post and return it, could ask him for anyone who would be interested.

That's a new one on me ! Do you have any more info on this ? Are they soon to be doing a ecu test on a mot ?

yes they are doing it on mot time as well as testing the trailer light sockets work ok this due to the fact that the tow bar and fixings are now part of mot checks. the new ecu tests are due to the theory that increased power=overworked brakes and also having it remapped = modified vechile an may be not declared to to insurance companys....... [get out clause if you need to make a claim]! me think eu stinks.

as from 2012 re mapped motors[ecu] is a automatic mot failure! more eu madness.

I would like to see the proof of this, how ever on earth would they test it as torque tronix remap doesn't show on a dealers software.

That sounds to me like pub talk but I would like to be proved different.

I have my Audi A4 done and it makes a great difference. Had a quick look on the net and can't find no official change to the law regarding remapping and MOTS.
