Urgent Jensen Failure Check yours ASAP

If we had a machinery rep making comment on a bit of dirt on our machines being the reason why a major component failed I think I'd chase them out of our yard. Yes it;s nice to keep machines clean but it's not reason for them failing, only a means of observing a fault.

Treegeek is simply passing on his experience and for that I appreciate his information

 

Thanks realy was'nt expecting such a bitching for a dirty machine for those who feel that a dirty machine is unacceptable sorry yes a bucket of soapy water would kill any one i agree i wish my boss would like give us the time too. I'm not an animal.

amazing really, timberwolfs had a similar issue at one point, you would think that chasis builders would have learnt by now! poor welds, speed bumps.

Is that a 7.5 tonner you have it hitched too?

I imagine therein lies a large part of your problem. Lorry suspension is so hard compared to 4x4 or van etc that the stresses on the a-frame are much higher, and this sort of breakage is regularly seen on caravans and smaller trailed stuff towed by rally-ers etc. You may want to think about putting a spring loaded hitch on the truck to avoid this happening again.

that is shocking, i had a demo off redwood today of the same machine, i would have brought that up with him if id known. looks like an straight forward fix though. that really could have been a disaster.

it dosent seem to have a reinforcing plate on the angle ,like on the 530,?? or is it on the inside ,or did some one for get it put it on ??

Not had that happen, but once had the indispension unit peel away on a jensen in the centre of bradford, crawling over a speed island not 5 minutes off the motorway! jammed the wheel/tyre up against the body and we had to fetch the tractor to lift it and trailer it away. friday afternoon and of course every text on my phone was from someone sat in a sunny beer garden.

 

Unfortunately these things do crop up from time to time. Hopefully an isolated incident, but anything that makes us a bit more vigilant and less inclined to complacency is a good thing. Thanks for posting

there's a lot of potholes about at the moment:thumbdown:, it's amazing how high trailers bounce on bumps, i'd love to put some big soft 4x4tyres on the chipper to soak up some of them. and a bucket of soapy water does nothing compared to a karcher steam cleaner:thumbup:
