wholesale kiln dried logs?

I sell firewood in gloucestershire and am just about out of seasoned wood, ive been looking into ways to keep selling for the rest of this season and am considering kiln dried logs and was wondering if anyone knows of a good supplier? Ive had a bit of a look round and it seems a lot of kiln dried is coming out of eastern europe, aside from the energy wasteage, technical, time and quality assurance issues invloved in buying from somewhere like latvia, it does seem very silly to be importing wood 100s of miles when in live in the middle of a forest. Does anyone have any experience of dealing with these companies or any uk based companies?

Not sure but one company contacted me and it sounds cheap for the wood i.e. 38 E per cubic meter but then it would cost another 38 E to bring over so 76 E which going to be around £60-00.

I've worked out it costs me £40-00/£50-00 to split and dry a cubic meter (as long as I can get the wood easily/cheaply).

I think if you want to sell all year round increase your storage area and stockpile more.

we have seasoned softwood log nets available wholesale , if thats help - 50 nets per pallet, we could supply you with 10+ pallets for £1.50 a net plus VAT - or could supply m3 vented bags for £60 plus VAT if any help - min collection of 10 bags

we have wholesale hardwood but its semi seasoned for the wholesale market, coming out at about 32%, mostly ash m3 bags at £80plus VAT min 10 bags, or in nets £2.30 /net plus VAT

all prices collected from our yard just 2 minutes off A50 Uttoxeter, loading facilties and tea made on arrival

our wholesalers customers are usuallly vat registered (coalmen, garages, firewood merchants/farmers), and so they claim back and recharge at 5% - bearing in mind we are still in the busy period if wholesale customers wanted the deals, we offer substantial discounts come may -july when we fulfil our wholesale demands

we retail at £80 plus 5% VAT, but some of our local friends who buy off us to resell, still make a profit at our charge of £80 a cube, they resell at half a cube £65 plus 5% VAT,

if you came to me and said i am going to burn it myself who am i to know different and so would therefore have to charge 5%

Well in that case I think you are to cheap ... £84 a cube retail is not enough to justify the work involved.

And its a min of ten bags...then youve got to collect them. I must be doing something really WRONG.

most customers send in a wagon on a return load to their area usually a 7.5 tonner + size vehicle that holds about 10 pallets/bags it keeps haualage price down that way thats all , ofcourse we can supply smaller quantities and sort transport for people but in wholesale its all about cheapness.

if you ordered through the quieter periods you could get substantial discounts and good rates for logs, but we can get £80 a cube now so thats s what its worth a the moment - if you wanted a price for unseasoned no problem
