Also I got feed up with losing wedges in canals and resevoirs or just dropping them out of trees when chogging big lumps off. So I drilled a hole through the side of a wedge, put a bit of starter cord on it, clip it on my harness!!

nice thinking with the strainer. if theres 2 people, 1 to strain and one to staple, then levering the hammer off the side of a post is very affective and very quick. your way would be great for someone on their own.

 

if i can find the pictures i'll post up my improvised post puller i fashioned up to remove a very stubborn snaped of post below ground level, concreted in the middle of a patio.

Aah yes, but you'll never get it tight enough like that..., and its not the staples that hold it tight, its the knot you tie in it when it has passed right round the post, the staples ought never be hammered right in as this doenst allow the wire to flex at all, and also damages the wire....
