I remember one we were taught at college, you make a slit in at 45 deg nearish the top on a high stump, then you stick your pulp hook into the slot to hold the bottom of your saw, and make another slit in the top of the stump for the bar to sit in

I dont understand!??

Whats going on there?

I've seen it where you cut into a high stem and put the saw in and hold the back of the saw up with a felling lever which is stuck in lower on the stem, but I dont understand what is happenign with the wedge???

Excuse me I am a bit slow!!

the wedge is jamming the cut ,hence holing the bar of the saw

Yup shove combispanner down the side of the bar to wedge the bar but leave the chain free
