i went as far as buying an old jensen turntable chipper (530 I think) a xlwb Iveco and an alloy tipping body that I was going to make 3 way tip, trouble I found is to have the wheels in the right place not to overload the rear axle means the trucks huge, I think mine was / had 16ft of chassis behind the cab and roughly 20ft wheelbase.. driving it was a nightmare in most situations, and being 3.5t it would have been shite to say the least, I was convinced at some point it would have been usefull but to have it as the main truck would have been hideous, and in hindsight im glad I just sold the lot and started again so to speak..

My experience of l200 is that theyre not worth it! otherwise, Struggling to really see the benefit to having the chipper on the truck, rather than a tow behind? does sound pretty cool though to have a chipper unit mounted on the wagon!

An advantage would be, much better off road and reversing into tight areas. Be good for utility work where its not so often to remove chip from site and a lot of the work is off road.

A chipper mounted on a Landrover would surely shake it to pieces in next to no time although a few older arbtalkers will remember a umm with a vermeer on the back of it running around Taunton may years ago

Not so, we used to do railway work through the 90's and had a Land Rover 130 V8 and put a 6" chipper on the back, it was demountable so we could tow it behind the Land Rover when we didn't need it off road and had a conversation plate made so we could also mount the chipper on a 4x4 dumper. We could take it along the line together with men and tools. Unfortunately I don't have any pic's that I can find but it was truely a crackin bit of kit.
