Don't fancy the job of clearing all that brash up once you've rung the stem up and cut it a little bit smaller. Get a head camera or just film it. I love watching other peoples tree videos:biggrin:

what is the advantage of doing a 45 degree back cut in this or any situation?

I think he was going a kind of dog's tooth. Can't really tell, looks like the tree has a slight lean.

If the tree leans in the direction of felling a dog tooth stops a barber chair i think but this was not the reason my guide bar was to small so normal gob and i cut through the middle and match each side spot on otherwise could loose control of a 2 plus ton log the last angled cut just stops imo the tree sitting back and breaking off but i use it becuase it gives me more accuracy to get the perfect gob.

The last angled cut releases the tree so the workers know exactly when to pull and i know exactly when to give it legs lol.

if the bar was to small, why not sweep cut the bugger. Couple wedges and a few taps later over she goes. Probably would have saved the hassle of having to match up and keep popping through the arse of the tree.
