I knew there was an issue with 3.5 tonners being overloaded... but I did'nt think a big breakfast would send us overweight. There were two climbing kits, lowering kit, 6 saws, 2 hedge trimmers, ladders, rakes etc and 1/2 a tank of fuel, so I guess we could save some weight by not taking all the kit..

 

How much weight can you save with an ali or steel body? We looked into it and just hefting the raw materials about it didn't seem that much lighter.

 

How much chip can you get in the back of a transit? I thought using two transits we'd get away with being legal most (some) of the time, but if wood chip weighs 500 -750kg cu.m we are probably over weight every day.

 

Are 3.5 tonners just a waste of time if you want to be legal?
