Ride on mowers

I need a ride on mower, to cut my grass at home.

 

I know nothing about them and would really value any advice.

 

I'm thinking secondhand and with a collection box.

Scag and Etesia are top end; Mountfield are crap! Compact tractor with attachments might be more useful i.e. Kubota, Iseki...

I am a dealer for a brand called stiga although we do do mowers that collect i would realy recomend "multi clip" the grass is clipped several times, the clipping that are left decompose in 2 hours. The other benifets are quicker mowing time, less fuel, feed the grass at the same time ect. no mess no fuss

IMO Dave, if you actually need a ride on I would go for new.

 

The good second hand ones are hard to find. Many are already causing problems or worn out and have been replaced by a new one.

 

If you were talking commercial machines it would be a different matter, a bit like asking would you buy a second hand domestic grade saw?

I am told that Scag mowers are very good. A mate has a zero turn one which he is VERY pleased with.

the stiga are out front mowers with articulation...4x4 the cut is unrival...

My old man sells deck mowers from 4' to 40', you need a tractor of course, but a wee kubota or something could be picked up cheap.

 

I used one on my wee tractor to cut some grass for a client, the grass was 3' high and really a flail job but the mower left a really nice finish. They dont collect as they are the mulching kind.

tbh if you want a tractor than can do bits and pices as well as mower get a kubota...but if you want a mower get a mower not a tractor...ive seen hundreds of people make that mistake
