i have a superwinch husky 8500lb on the front which pulls my 130 out slowly, its not fast but for assisting with felling and rolling big bits over once on the deck to make them safer to work on its ace, i have it paired with a lodar remote so when felling i can tension up the winch. Also due to being a worm drive winch you can leave some tension on it when felling with it and it doesnt slip. Picked the winch and lodar units up of ebay cheap both used, and got a used bumper after asking on here for one!

also i have a 2500lb superwinch that drops on the tow hitch on the back, which i have used for skidding smaller bits up river banks, across wetlands etc as its a bit quicker than the husky, but the husky is a great winch just dont expect it to be quick

Im thinking of fitting an electric winch to the front of my Defender and I was wondering what size winch to go for. The winch will be used mainly for self recovery and to assist with felling.

Many thanks

Martin

You have timed it just about right, the indoor 4x4 show is at the county showground Stafford which I think is 19/20 March so there will be plenty to choose from on your doorstep.

However, David Bowyers Goldfish which is totally waterproof is the one I would recommend, they are tried and tested, and if you can afford it a goodwich dyneema rope.

You will get cheaper but £ for £ they are best value for money, in my opinion.
