The local farmers take loads of woodchip from us for bedding his animals.

Whilst on the subject guys does the woodchip that goes to the power station have to be kept dry or anything special? We have a fair bit but it's stored outside and just wondered if Boomeco would take it?

doesnt have to be dry.. need a good base to store it on though..

I once worked for a farmer who grew willow for the power staitions and to be honest I couldn't see how he was making money from it. It took around 1000hp of tractors to harvest the willow. A contractor with a massive tub chipper and loadall, would come into chip the billets of willow to dust. It would take around 8hrs to fill a 40ft trailer, around 28 tonnes, the trailer was driven to Drax, around 26miles away. it took 28 minutes to burn the dust. There couldn't have much profit in that!

Surely Stobarts are just the carrier, AHS seems to do biomass as do Homegrown Timber and they use hauliers like Stobarts. Tho I did hear that certain firms were trying to "strangle" certain contractors who produced the chip so that they had to use certain hauliers who wanted to control the market of delivery!

Why not use the chip yourself. With the present dash for green energy the return is far better than tree surgery and you can even earn cash while your fast a sleep.
