Ash Clearfell

Heres a job i did with my cousin a while back, i work with him a few days a week and my granddad at the weekends, while squeezing some college in there too my cuz is the one who owns the roadless, david brown and the little mf 35's that some of you may have seen posted on here before, and now hes got this lovely case

 

This was the first proper bit of forestry work we did with it, and it coped very well.

 

This was a 100 ton ash clearfell, some nice size stuff in there, finished the last few big trees the other weekend, as we took the major up there to winch them over.

do you replenish tree stocks for the ones you have taken out?

Some excellent quality timber in there, for both milling and firewood.

 

Hard to get an exact idea of scale, but there looks to be a little more than 100 tonne in that stack?

 

Curious as to what the reason was for a complete clearfell rather than thin?

it is going to be replanted once the brash has been cleared up, but we are not part of that

 

as far as PPE goes, the saying "cant teach an old dog new tricks" kind of goes for my family

yeah we milled some of it into inch boards at the weekend, real nice stuff!

 

umm i think it was work out as 100 tons of ash, in that stack there is some alder and poplar

 

im not sure on the reason behind it, it was orginally planted for pheasnt cover most probably so i think they want to just start again with it, but im not really sure
