You must be part of David Cameron and the condems Big Society...............:laugh1::lol:

You had radio 2 on today?

Not at all, just reckon i'd be grateful is someone done it for me, Karma, and all that 'what goes around........' stuff. Comes a time when you realise there's more to life than yourself :001_tt2:

My old man and i are on call. We have a 110 that would happily and easily drag a cut tree to the side of the road. Only had one call out so far for a canker ridden ash crown on a fairly minor road. Just waiting for the big one when i can get hold of one my colleagues to come and give us a hand.

Mate I'm not knocking you, and no I didn't have Radio 2 on today, I'd be more than happy to get my saws out to help my immediate community, but any further than a mile down the road I want wedge, just like the cops, fire service, Ambulance service, Army, AA etc etc..........:thumbup1:

But one again I'll say it I commend you, and fingers crossed one day in the near future we'll all take you attitude and society will be a much better place.....:001_smile:

No worries, i said 10 mile radius coz its pretty rural in places, only takes 15 mins to do 10 mile! Realised now that i might sound a bit smug, far from it, i'm ex services (navy), not that that means anything! I just think (without sounding too far out!) that if you can help when its really needed then why not? At the end of the day its gonna cost us a bit of fuel and a couple of hours lost sleep. Not the end of the world, why charge?? We earn our money with honest work, our emegency services are underpaid so if we can assist then lets make it easier for them!

I'm sure you must be wondering why you posted in the first place. For what it's worth, I think you are doing it for the right reasons with good intend and that's what matters. You aren't going to bankrupt anyone for clearing a couple of roads and you might get spin off work in the long term. You are doing it in a local area, so you are helping you neighbours - it matters not they they might not do the same - we all don't have to be miserable. As a business move, we all throw a few lost leaders out once in a while and as they say "its the thought that counts" and what comes around goes around - I,m with you on this one.

Ask me another day and I might have totally changed my opinion, but it's the weekend and I'm in a good mood today.

We had a tree come down in our village only blocking one half of the road Rang the LA said they will send some one out Monday as its too windy to work we've had no wind for the 2 hrs... Ive gone out and done it took me 1hr to cut and push to the side of the road 2 locals even came out to help and offered me a pint to night :)
