Bio Diesel, Ford Transit and Ranger

Just picked up 200litres of Bio Diesel, not the stuff with chips still floating in it but the refined stuff at 90p a litre, seeing as I just paid 89p a litre for Red for the chipper this stuff seems a bargain.

Just put 50 litres in the 53 plate transit so far so good, not dared put it in the ranger yet in case it messes up two vehicles.

Whats other peoples experiences?

Is it true about it eating fuel pumps, pipes and seals?

Thanks

James

My understanding is that biodiesel is great at loosening up any accumulated crud in the tank and fuel lines. Which isnt in itself bad - except that the crud then blocks the fuel filter.

Buy in a couple of spare filters and you should be good.

The fuel we put through our L200 and Ford Ranger is 75% biodiesel. It certainly makes a difference when you use a tank of ordinary diesel from the public forecourts. The council are planning on going to 80% maybe even 90% biodiesel in the fuel pumps in the council yards. The pure diesel that is in there just helps the engines out and thins out the biodiesel a bit.

Cheers for the replies, I'll see how the van runs tommorow, it was totally empty when I filled it up so will be running on 100%

I'll keep you up dated

didn't anyone tell you to mix it with diesel to start with at 50% to wean it onto it it'll clean your tank and fuel lines and almost certainly block your filter straight away id get a couple of fuel filters because you'll be needing them

biodiesels good its the suppliers that are a night mare to find one that makes it to a good quality and will keep you supplied and not run out all the time if you have to travel far to get it its not worth it ive found it a pain ive got some on order at 85p they deliver it but not heard anything yet just cant seem to get a good constant supply.

where are you getting it from?
