Could always ask Stihl to add a few more pounds if its not going to make any difference.

Especially if it makes people feel more like a man.:thumbup1::sneaky2:

Its not going to make any difference hanging from your harness but that little bit extra will on the wrists and elbows I bet.

Theres only 1.5lb in difference between an 046 and 066 when your chogging all day with one you can tell.

Anyway I'm not as strong as some of you.:blushing::laugh1:

But, you guys are missing an important point. My angle is, its not the weight that bothers me, its the super efficient, low emissions, tick every EU directive box engines.

These things are a nightmare to set, maintain and repair. All of the leading manufacturers have had trouble with the new generation engines/carburettors and has been a nightmare for dealers also.

Our local saw shop had an open day the other day and Stihl were there doing a demo. A guy was running a 362 crosscutting. The saw was not happy, he had to blip the throttle and get the revs up before every cut. Obviously was running too lean.

So I asked him why he didnt give it a quarter turn and richen it up. He said he couldnt, it was running at its optimum! WTF?

So I asked, can you really tell me you think its running right, to which his reply was Well thats how they will all run eventually. He then showed me another saw(not sure on model) and said it had an automatic adjuster and set itself. When he saw my puzzled face he continued by saying, he believed in the near future it will become illegal to adjust a carb. He said Im not sure how they will police it but the EU are currently trying to make it illegal to tamper with any equipment that will alter its emissions.

What about with a 14" bar and one with a 10" bar.

There's more to life than worrying about 1lb

Try taking a dump in a morning, you can lose a good few pounds.

Personally, I reckon if one pound in weight on a saw bothers you, you need to get an office job

I want power and speed of cut and if that means an extra two pounds, I can live with that.

I doubt it would take months of weight training to handle the extra weight :sneaky2:

power to weight is the name of the game with a topper. Not sure of your dietary problems (there are other forums to discuss those:001_tt2:) but a pound on your hips and ankles is a lot different to a pound on your wrist. More power, lighter saw... we have the technology, let them make the saw. How miniscule are the emissions from a handful of 35cc engines compared to V8 engines? And you can't even legally drive a V8 to it's limit. Ban massively overpowered cars and leave appropriately powered tools alone IMO.
