yeh but the motorway speed limit was set before disc brakes existed, stopping distances were 3 times what they are now,,,

 

I think the speed limit for motorway is still appropriate now. Peoples reaction times haven't improved. I get sick and tired of seeing people tailgating. It rarely happens with me as I just cruise in the far left lane but occasionally I get some tosser on the country lanes on way to work who wants to do 80 in a 60. Only had one moron so close that I was actually worried though, and he was only there for about 2 seconds before overtaking me. If there was a safe place to stop or if I caught him up at the lights I would have had words :thumbdown:
