Keeping Rehydrated - Your Solutions??

I finished college this summer and have been climbing for my new boss about a month. Since then i've been battling with dehydration during work and wondered if anyone else had similar troubles and if people have any ideas, strategies or gadgets for keeping watered down whilst climbing.

 

Also, I thought it would be good to hear people's symptoms of dehydration/exhaustion so others know what to look out for??

When your waiting for the groundies to clear the branch and send your lowering rope back up, lift your helmet off your head, it's amazing how much heat you can get rid of in a short time.

 

Take your boots off at lunch time.

 

I suffered badly from heat exhaustion and dehydration at the beginning of summer but I seem to have aclimatised a little now.

 

Just keep sipping water when you can (hard up the tree)

If your dehydrated but still drinking plenty you need to replace the salts your losing through sweating. Normal drinks wont replace those and you'll only further dilute the salts in your body causing an electrolyte imbalance. Thats what causes the fatigue cramps, nausea spliting headache, and generally feeling totally sh!t.

I take rehydration salts when im stuffed, though its probably best to take them prior/during work.

Just drink lots of water, salt tablets if u get 2 bad take extra brakes to allow for heat. If u need to in summer start work earlier have long brake late morning start work again when it gets cooler. However at the moment u mite need to take drowning measure`s rain rain rain and more rain:scared1:
