one of the lads managed to put a jensen 530t on its side today, he said he did not switch it off so was burning oil. it cut out on its own accord. When i got there and got it upright it was covered in oil. When i tried to turn it over it made a clunking noise. Anybody know whats up or has it seized? cheers

are you saying he towed it while it was still running ?

 

how do you roll a 530 ??

 

is his p45 close @ hand

it may have hydrauliced ! ie drawn oil into the cylinders and this then stops the movment of the piston as oil is incompresable at best it needs the injectors out to check at worst it may have done rhe conecting rods in !

Chances are if it was running on its side for any length of time it has starved of oil and is probably terminally dead

 

If it isn’t seized it may just be locked hydraulically. Take out the injectors and see if it will turn over (cover the ports first)

I'm trying to figure it out. Their centre of gravity is relatively low. We use a 530 at work and we can get it on the same angle at the truck. The towball coupling must have been knocking on the limit. If we are going to move the chipper whilst it is running we put it down to idle so it isnt moving around at full speed.

oil may have gone up into cylinders. you may need to remove the injectors to and turn the flywheel manually to clear cyinders. you will know if it has seized if you cart turn flywheel. fingers crossed !
