very neat job mate, especially with a stick welder!! keep a close eye for any cracks that may appear, did you use mild steel rods?? im glad to see there is still some old school 'young un's' about!!

You are one of the last of a dieing breed, me and Alex Price were only discussing today, how few youngsters today take an interest in making or fixing things, most just want sit and look at a screen of some sort or another.

Cheers means a lot to hear that, yeah i know what you mean, none of my friends are like me really, they all go to 6th form do some pointless subjects there and are now going on to uni to carry on those pointless subjects ahaa, well thats what i think anyway, because i am now doing an agricultural engineering course at college, it kind of brings out the fabrication and bodging side of me and i am trying to combine this and forestry as much as possible, i was thinking the other night of maybe doing a forestry engineering type course next year, i think barony do one, but i'll have to look into it more

ahaha yeah god knows, it doesnt half throw some chips out now

Yeah i wasnt sure if it was going to work to be honest, but it did a day works fine so im happy even if thats all does, but hopefully it will last

umm i have no idea what rods they are to tell you the truth, there the ones ganddad gave me when he let me have the welder, they are 2.5mm not 3.2mm which is what im used to using, i couldnt believe how much harder it was with 2.5mm rods!

In the great scheme of things it matters not if it works or fails, we learn just as much from projects that don’t work as we do from our successes.

 

From a design and production point of view you have identified a need, considered and discounted a scratch build project, modified existing components using tools to hand and tested the product.

 

If you wrote the project up it would stand on its own merits.

Great job on that, id love to be able to weld and stuff like that, never had the opportunity to have to weld, my dad does like to bodge things up though! True farmer style!
