I’ve recently renewed my longstanding love for irons. Gashy plastic ones but they work well enough that I can use them for a bit while I work out what I want to replace them with.

Rifle is an absolute sweetheart. I’ve left a rail on to try a long eye relief pistol scope a mate has for me but irons really do seem right.

Still loving the irons. Opened up the aperture (to 3mm, want to go bigger) with a rat tail file in a drill (rotate anti clockwise btw; it screws in if you go clockwise). Morning routine is ring the postcard sized steel 53m from the french windows before going out for a piss. A mate dropped in a 2x pistol

scope. I’ll dovetail the barrel for it when I shorten it. Nice to shoot with but ruins the carry. Will keep as a quick attach for watermelons, heads of state etc. Irons for normal use.

RIP, big dribbling cat, you have passed the single shared brain cell to the next orange in line.

I'll chop out my two a fat line each of catnip in his honour.

And one for yourself, barman.

You need a gun with a cross over stock . I know of right handed shooters that had a left master eye and got a cross over stock fitted .

I am a leftie shooter and right eye dominant.

i just squint the right eye a bit.

works for me.

BTW way.  I am never gonna be a champion shooter on the clays.  Always have been better at shooting feathers.

My old man was a very good shooter and have had lessons from him and pros when I was younger.  It’s all out the window as the usual tips don’t work.  I guess I worked it out over practice.

I was at the clay ground last night.  Best score is 21/25 on the Trap format.  Last night was under 20 but I defo hit more than I miss 😜.

Maybe I could be eligible for the ParaOlympic teams or does cross over eye dominance not count as a real disability?

😜

One of the funniest things I’ve seen is my mate standing in his garden with a Browning Auto 5 and two boxes of fags, hoping to blast a mole. Literally hours.

I cleared a fifteen acre field in two days ( about seven moles) Two years later all back. Luckily its lightish soil, so doesn't take too much off the haycutter blades.

Personally, yes it's a faff but better to keep it active just incase the mood changed 🙂.

Even a crusty old shotgun isn't costing more than a couple of hundred quid every 5 years.

Yeah, might change my mind when I simmer down, £30 a year after all.

Went to the rifle range this evening.  I shipped over an Anschutz .17hmr  which I was having problems with.  Turns out I had a matching .22 LR in the UK and the RFD shipped the wrong bolt.  Hence my problems.

Took it to a Gunsmith here in Norway who machines out the bolt.  But I haven’t managed to fire it yet.

Went to the range tonight to check zero and it’s fires, chambers rounds and eject empty shells fine.

Twiddled a few knobs and happy with the result.

100m prone.

Ist was with Hornady Vmax and 2nd pic was with Norma.  Pulled the last shot which messed the grouping, but I was prone and my back was hurting from a hard day cutting.
