Many times I’ve walked and come back another day due to high winds, and/or bad planning on the part of a tree-contractor. On countless occasions I’ve been hired by naive, non-climbing company owners who know neither what they are looking at or talking about.

As a contract-climber people often either bull$hit you about what a job involves, or like I said – just don’t have the experience to make a judgement....and it’s not always convenient for me to go take a look at the job first. We always get the job done, eventually....but on my terms.

So what are you going to do about that tree gibbon? Are you going to leave it as is?

Going to leave it for now Reg. I got enough wieght out where I could to reduce the risk. One side looks a little odd but its up to the estate how much money they want to spend on it.

Speedline was a thought but I didn't have my long ropes on site. Also tensioning the line enough to clear the chestnut would have been just as scary

Yeah last year- shouldnt have been in the tree in the first place.....electric wires live below. The tree was a medium sized (70') radiata to deadwood and remove a couple of limbs, but I allowed the wires to really get to me and bottled it after lunch. Went back the next day with a clearer head and better plan and nailed it.

Was it at Escot matt? It must have been scary as for you to bottle i would have thought!!

up a dead silver birch on spikes and the wood was really pulpy, i decided not to go right up and dismantle but knock the top out instead, when i did this the tree started creaking, when i finally got to the bottom it was completly hollow and i was shaking for about 10 mins,

another time i lowered a top out and it cam back and clatered into the mewp, guys on the ground said it looked like it was going over, i came down and changed me pants!!!!!!!!!!!
