I was admitted into hospital a year ago today with meningitis. I thought it was just a really bad headache then I collapsed and blacked out. If I hadn't ignored it for a couple of days before hand it wouldn't have been half as bad.

Depending on how bad it was, he's probably going to be feeling really wierd for the next few months, like he's not all there. Loss of concentration is the big one so watch out for it. Happened to me.

My boys have been a bit under the weather last couple of days and last night Dylan had a high temperature so we took him to hospital he was quickly diagnosed with meningitis! He seems to be recovering very quickly because we caught it early, I watched him deteriorate quickly and last night I thought I was going to lose him. If anybody has any doubts about their children get them straight in we've been very lucky.

i whole heartedly sympathise with you and glad to hear everything is ok .

my daughter was 4 months old when i rushed her to hospital because she was unwell and straight away diagnosed with meningitis , il never forget the moment when the pediatric nurse told us that she had a heartbeat of 200 beats a minute and shes very very poorly  the next thing i knew an ambulance was sent from london with a specialist team and off they went to the evalina childrens hospital at st thomas's she spent 5 days in intensive care and everything turned out for the good thank god . did they have to do a lumber puncture ? (needle inbetween the spinalcord ) ? i had to hold my little girl in a ball so tight that she couldnt move a millimetre while they did it !

worse moment of my life !

I'd like to thank everyone for their messages of support it means a lot and it's quite humbling to know a load of rough macho tree men who I haven't had the privilege of meeting can be so supportive and caring

Dylan is well on his way to recovery and getting his little character back cheers lads:thumbup:

My daughter was diagnosed with meningitis a couple of days before christmas in 2002 when she was 6 months old, she was put on a ventilator on christmas eve and spent a week in intensive care. we ended up staying in the hospital for three weeks until she got better, definately the scariest time of my life. Its a nasty disease ended up wiping her hearing out, thankfully shes had two cochlear implants enabling her to hear and speak great . Just glad to read that you got there quick enough

Hi Lawrence, glad to hear Dylan is on the mend and well done for acting so quickly. It has obviously been a difficult time for you so put what the heck you like on this forum, I know from experience it is always better to talk about things than bottle it up.

Keep up the good fathering:thumbup:
