Some amazing comments on this thread!

New chains instead of sharpening?

And one/two sharpens a file?

Unbelievable:confused1:

How many sharpens would you think out of a file?

I feel after 2 good sharpens, depending on chain damage and bar length that they don't file as good as a new one.

Never counted them to be honest Rob, but many more than 2, even on 36" bar using 7/32"!

Just wondering what brand you guys are using who only get a couple of sharpens?

Also, while using them do you clean off the filings regularly from the file etc?

I can honestly say i sharpen my 020 or 192 once a week why would you need to buy a new chain for every job. Sharpening is not rocket science you sharpen the chain then every 2 sharpens take the rackers down.

i do mine about once a month, if its used in the tree it shouldnt get blunt just a little dull, some guy that works for us recons he didnt sharpen his 200 for about 3-4 months

I have a pet hate of people using them on the ground and tbh we only have to sharpen the ground saws when we have inexperienced guy in. :001_rolleyes:
